Celebrating 23 Years of Educational Cultural and Heritage Enrichment Programming for
    Youth, Families, and Communities

Led by Founder / Executive Director Baba Ahmad Kenya, Images of the Motherland Interactive Theatre (IMIT), a multi-award winning 501(c)(3) founded in 1999, missions to instill dignity, self-esteem, tolerance in and mutual respect among community members using authentic “living history” dramatic, visual art, music, dance, cinematic, and museum practice storytelling that builds bridges of understanding across age, culture, race, and religion.

IMIT works to provide programming free to the general public. IMIT has accomplished this goal with 90% of its general public programming.

Images of the Motherland Interactive Theatre works are derived from its authenticated research of the people, culture, and heritage of North and West Africa. IMIT tells untold and unknown histories to share the impact and contribution of these cultures to America, African Americans, and the world.

IMIT has also developed three dynamic collaborative projects along with its host of performance productions and traveling museum exhibits: 1) Living History Heritage Project , Islamic Heritage Month for the City of Philadelphia, and Children of Adam Band.

IMIT early beginnings included original productions such as"The Legend of Kan-Kan Musa: Mansa of Mali," "Songhai Music/Dance Medley," and "Mambugur & Tales of the Dogon." More information can be found online at our original site, www.imagesofthemotherland.com.

Through the Living History Heritage Project, IMIT has produced, “YERO Mahmoud: Forgotten Roots”, “Abdul Rahman Ibrahima-The Prince Among Slaves”, “Muhammad Ali ibn Sayyid-#292 United States Colored Troops,” “Bilali Muhammad-Almamy of Sapelo Island GA,” “Sojourner Truth: Forgotten Roots” and Baba Ahmad Kenya's own work “The Life & Times of Omar ibn Sayyid.”

Images of the Motherland's latest development is the Children of Adam Band. With the tagline, "Celebrating the Musical Diversity of Humanity," the Children of Adam Band is a sizzling 10 member musical ensemble that performs all original “PMB” Positive Message Bearing Music. COA has released two albums, the latest TIMBUKTU: The Human Journey. A multilingual musical hybrid of R&B, Jazz, Latin, African, Middle Eastern with a twist of American Soul, the song lyrics feature themes about respect for Mothers, anti-bullying, the universal commonality of humanity and the need for tolerance, acceptance, and respect of all peoples.
